As well as our fantastic tracks of talks across both days, we have plenty of other spaces where you can connect with each other, with the Google team and other expert speakers, relax and have a coffee, play a game of ping pong or even just check your emails.
We’re bringing back our games room from last year, with retro computer and arcade games plus some sporty extras. And in the evening, we’ll have an 80s themed after party. Expect cheesy music from your youth (or a bit before), karaoke, hotdogs and veggie burgers, Angular Ale and soft drinks, all part of your ticket price. The first drink is on us but when that drunks out, bring your wallet for the cash bar. If 80s music isn’t your thing, Progress will be running a hackathon with great prizes throughout the evening after hours session - see below.
Big conferences can be overwhelming, which is why we’re bringing back our bean bag filled chill out room and free twice-daily meditation sessions. Grab a hot drink from the bar and take some time out.
We’re big believers in the importance of good food and drink, and the conversations that happen when you’re tucking into something delicious. We’ll be providing healthy, tasty lunches, quality coffee and soft drinks available all day, bigger breakfasts than 2015 (we listened to your feedback!), plus snacks throughout the day and at the after party. And of course, our locally brewed Angular Ale.
Progress Software, creators of NativeScript, Kendo UI, and much more, are pleased to host the Angular Connect Hackathon on Sept 27th from 6:00 - 10:30 pm. You can continue to work on your projects during the remainder of the night but please submit a video and Github repo link of your hack to DevPost by 10:00 am on September 28th. Judging via DevPost will include all conference members, and winners will be announced at the close of the conference. We have four categories available for prizes and encourage you to form teams to win!
With special thanks to GFT for their invaluable help with materials for this hackathon.
You will be building something interesting with NativeScript and Angular 2. To show it off, record a video demo that we can all see!
It’s really important to install NativeScript on your machine and get it up and running, and possibly learn about how NativeScript and Angular 2 work together by working through the Getting Started Guide for NativeScript using Angular 2.
You can also join the NativeScript Slack channel in the #hackathon room where we will have experts ready to field questions.
Two days at a conference is full-on. Lots of take in, lots of people to talk to. For the second year, we’ve invited in Andy Arkell to run a series of mindfulness sessions in our chillout room. If you’re new to the concept, we’ll be running some taster sessions to provide a quick and simple introduction to the principles and practice of mindfulness meditation. We’re also running two longer mindfulness practice sessions. Andy will be around both days to meet with people, answer mindfulness-related questions and discuss things like integrating mindfulness into the work-day and work-place.
11:00-11:10 - What is Mindfulness? A ten minute introduction
