Conference location

London, UK

We’re not biased* but we think London is a pretty amazing city. With connections to all the main travel hubs, a global centre for tech excellence, a great transport infrastructure, beautiful green spaces, wonderful restaurants, museums and galleries, it would be worth visiting anyway even if it weren’t also playing host to a fantastic two-day Angular conference…

*OK fine, we are a little biased

Conference venue

ExCel, London

ExCeL London is situated in the London Docklands area of east London close to the banks of the River Thames. The Docklands are accessible by air from the rest of Europe, by DLR train from Central London and by boat and cable car.

ExCel is one of London’s largest and best-respected conference venues and was one of the London 2012 Olympic venues. We chose it for AngularConnect because it’s got plenty of space, serves great food and is 100% accessible.

By river

The Emirates Air Line (Cable Car) connecting ExCeL London and the O2 opened in summer 2012, making it possible to travel by Thames Clipper between central London and the O2 and then by Cable Car across the Thames to the conference venue.

It’s really fun and you can pay using your Oyster card! Use the TfL Journey Planner to plan your trip.

By bike

The conference venue has 60 cycle racks in total. 6 cycle racks are located at the West entrance taxi drop off point just underneath the DLR walkway and 54 cycle racks are located next to the East Entrance underneath the stairway connecting Level 0 to Level 1. There is no charge to use the cycle racks.

By underground

We recommend the Jubilee Line as the quickest route to the conference venue. Alight at Canning Town and change onto a Beckton-bound DLR train, for the quick 2-stop journey to Prince Regent for ExCeL.

To plan your route, use the TfL Journey Planner.

By train

London’s main rail terminuses are Charing Cross, Euston, Kings Cross/St Pancras International, Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Marylebone, Moorgate, Paddington, Victoria and Waterloo.

To plan your journey from any of these stations, use the TfL Journey Planner.

By air

ExCeL London is conveniently accessible from each of London’s airports – approximate travel times are as follows:

  • London City Airport - 10 mins
  • Gatwick - 1 hour
  • Stansted - 1 hour 10 mins
  • Heathrow - 1 hour 30 mins
  • Luton - 1 hour 40 mins

By car

If you’re driving to the conference venue, follow signs for Royal Docks, City Airport and ExCeL. There is easy access from the M25, M11, A406 and A13.

The venue has onsite pay and display parking, but be warned it can get expensive so you may want to travel in by public transport instead.

Stay in central London and travel in each morning by Tube or stay close by the venue, it’s up to you. London has a vast range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. Please be aware that hotels close to the venue fill up very quickly and that this is a particularly busy time of year.

Here is a small selection of hotels within walking distance of the venue. Check these and others out on TripAdvisor before you make your choice.
